Physiotherapy is a form of therapy used by physical therapists for rehabilitation of particular joints, muscles, and ligaments. Physiotherapy involves various forms of exercises that a patient performs for specific types of injuries to increase strength, increase range of motion, and flexibility. In the long run, the goal is to help the patient regain normal function within the affected areas that are being treated.
Electrical Muscle Stimulation is another form of treatment where electrodes are placed on the affected area or areas to promote blood flow and decreased pain. Common areas of Electrical Muscle Stimulation include the Neck, Upper Back, Middle Back, Lower Back, Shoulder, Knees and so on. The intensity of the pulse will depend on the severity of the injury and what is necessary to adequately treat the injury.
With Physiotherapy, patients will typically feel immediate pain relief, however for those with chronic pain, the procedure may involve multiple treatments to regain normal function of spine, joints and muscles that are affected.
